My next vehicle will be a hybrid vehicle. Hopefully an American made model. Tax credits for research and production should be expanded to encourage development of alternate energy sources. Tax credits for the purchase of hybrids need to be increased to encourage sales. Research has showed that if the cost was the same most people would select a hybrid vehicle. Let s make the cost of a hybrid MORE affordable. Stop pollution and reduce our dependency on foreign oil all at the same time!
The reason gas prices don t really worry the government is that as long as we keep driving they still get their TAX. Yet, our highway projects go unfunded or underfunded. Increase hybrid/alternate fuel vehicles and our gas prices will go down. And who is benefitting from all the extra cash the high prices are costing us? TERRORISTS. If you want to see gas prices lowered then IT'S TIME to elect a Senator that will fight for alternate energy sources. |

Well the news today proved once and for all the price gouging was real. Exxon announced a record profit. All at YOUR expense! According to the CNN report a record $9.9 Billion profit was had by Exxon. Well, we are the ones that have been HAD. I call upon Senator Byrd to take action to regulate the pricing and protect consumers. |

As of today, I am the only candidate with any real solution for the high gas prices. Prices would be reduced immediately if we would demand reimbursement from Iraq for our expenses in rebuilding and defending their country. Three billion barrels of oil and counting should be received. I would have the US government sell this oil at a discount to oil companies, taking the proceeds and lowering the national debt. The companies would be required to flood the market here in the US and lower the price of gasoline for every American. Long term, building new oil rigs and tapping the Alaskan Refuge oil will NOT solve the oil crisis. For one, it will take years to get new sources into production. Second, we were told the Alaskan Pipeline would solve our energy problems years ago. IT has not. Third, and most importantly, the demand for oil increases by TWO MILLION BARRELS PER DAY. That means by the time May 9th is here, the daily demand worldwide will have increased by 24 million barrels and will increase to 388 million barrels more on election day in November then it is today. That is a worldwide demand that continues to grow. Increasing production will only offset that growth years to come and will be too late. The only real solution is to find alternative energy sources NOW. Domestic oil drilling is not the answer. I am not opposed to the drilling, it is just not the answer. Does Senator Byrd have the answer? Well if he does, as of today he has not shared it with you. ITS TIME to elect the only candidate that has REAL SOLUTIONS. |

In 1976 I purchased my first car. It would be three years later before the first car was purchased in the country of China. Now China is the most populated country in the world. And at the turn of this century there were very few cars in the country. Less than 5 million cars in 2003. That number is growing incredibly fast. Around a 40+ percent growth per year. As China becomes more prosperous [thanks to Americans buying their products and shipping our jobs other to their country] their people are able to purchase cars. Are you getting the picture? Our drive for cheap products is sending jobs and prosperity to China where their drive for jobs and prosperity is rasing our prices here in America. So in other words, the money we save at the discount store is not saved by the money we spend GETTING TO THE STORE! That is like spending $3 on gas to save $2 on a product you want to buy. The long term crisis we face is that our jobs and prosperity has been given to another country and we are the ones paying the price. |

Finally a reprive from $ 4 per gallon gasoline. I hope voters remember the change they voted into power in 2006. The same change that does not want to drill for domestic oil. Oil has fallen to about $ 3.50 per gallon. Now is the time for Congress to act and continue this decline in price. Action will lower the price of gasoline. But do not hold your breath. The key to lowering prices is threefold. First, when demand decreases the price decreases. So drive less and buy a more fuel efficient vehicle. That is the choice you can chose to make. Second, rising value of the dollar lowers oil prices. The stronger the dollar the more it can buy. Thus oil prices go lower since they are traded in US dollars. This is key. And thirdly, smooth distribution of oil. As long as there is no terrorist attack or weather interruption to the oil supply prices will not rise. Supply lowers the price. Too bad Congress does not plan ahead now and take steps to keep the prices low. Enjoy the $3.50 per gallon reprive. It will not last long. And if the democrats expand their majority it will only get worse faster. I have my hybrid picked out do you? |

Gas prices continue to remain lower thanks to lower demand. The economic meltdown has one silver lining. Energy prices have come down. Use this time wisely and buy fuel efficient vehicles. Now is the time to buy a hybrid not that seemingly underpriced SUV or pickup. Plan for the future and buy fuel efficient. One other great benefit that most people do not realize. When gas prices are lower the terrorist and evil nations of this world have less money. Russia, Iran and North Korea are worse off when gas prices are lower. If THAT does not make you want to buy a fuel efficient vehicle nothing will. |
