Position Statement: I support the construction of the King Coal Highway.

Southern West Virginia counties need this highway now! With the highway will come the jobs needed to revitalize counties depressed for years. Senator Byrd has been able to obtain limited funds to keep this project alive. I intend to fully fund this project and make it a reality. I wonder if Senator Byrd has driven Route 52 lately? People need a safe road to travel. The area is without any major highways and IT'S TIME to pave the King Coal Highway. Southern West Virginia can send a strong message to Congress and the President by electing me to replace Senator Byrd. I have included the King Coal Highway in my Seven Promises that I will keep.
The King Coal Highway and other highway projects will bring jobs and economic development to the communities that need it. Tourism will bring valuable dollars to starving local economies. West Virginia s natural resources will be utilized by people from out of state, expanding our tax base. This will reduce the tax burden on our citizens. Currently West Virginia is ranked #11 in tax burden. |
