Position Statement: Our nations flag has three colors for a reason.

Description of Position:

Politics divides states into `red states` and `blue states`. Primarily terms used for presidential elections but, they also hold significance for other elections as well. West Virginia is a blue state in one sense because it has a majority of voters registered democratic. In the last two presidential elections however, WV voted `red`. The news media debates whether some states such as Ohio or Florida will vote red or blue. As a Republican here in WV one goal is to blend more `red` into the predominantly `blue` to make `purple`. Now I like purple. It`s a great color. But I also like red and blue. And white.
White is a blend of all colors. White is pure. White stands for purity and one robed in white is considered holy. Jesus Christ is robed in white. While my robe may be a dirty gray his robe is pure white. But American politics has taken the white out of the color equation. Red, blue and even purple do not share the purity of white. American politics is trying to remove God from America. As one saying goes in reference to `red, white and blue`; `these colors don`t run!` The trouble is, when `white` is removed some want to run! Listen to the polls and the media debate the war in Iraq. Withdraw! Pull the troops out! Stop the funding! That sounds like running to me. If God be for us, then who could be against us?
Red vs blue makes for great news. But I believe we need to keep `white` ie GOD right there where it belongs between the red and the blue. |
